Former One Direction singer Liam Payne has passed away outside a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Local police confirmed on Wednesday that the 31-year-old singer was found dead after falling from a third-floor balcony. In a statement, police said they received a report of “an aggressive man, possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol” at a hotel in the Palermo neighborhood.

Rescue workers confirmed the singer’s death, and his body was found in the hotel’s courtyard. “We are deeply saddened and send prayers for his family and loved ones to stay strong and at peace,” wrote MTV Latin America on social network X.
Liam Payne rose to global fame as a member of the pop band One Direction, along with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.
The group began its journey after finishing third in the 2010 UK edition of The X Factor, but disbanded in 2016 as the members pursued solo careers.

Local news channel Todo Noticias TV interviewed Hernan Palazzo, who works near the hotel in Palermo, stating: “The neighborhood was in chaos… There were many police officers and some fans arrived. It’s really sad.”
Earlier this month, Payne attended former member Niall Horan’s concert in Buenos Aires. The singer had openly shared his battle with addiction and had spent time in a rehabilitation facility.
Earlier on Wednesday, Payne posted on Snapchat about his trip to Argentina, mentioning horseback riding, playing polo, and his desire to return home to see his dog.
